How To Read Your Natural Gas Bill & Why Is CFEMC On It?

So, you've made a great decision to switch your gas provider to True Natural Gas. Our bills are pretty straight forward, but we'll go through some of the features to make it even easier to understand as you get acquainted with your new service. We'll also discuss how you can pay your bill directly online from the True Natural Gas site. Let's get started.

Dissecting Your Gas Bill

You'll see it divided into three parts when you get your monthly gas bill. Let's quickly go through each piece.

Top Portion: Messages and Information

On top of your gas bill, you'll find the True Natural Gas logo with Coweta-Fayette EMC Natural Gas (CFEMC) below. The CFEMC logo is here because True Natural Gas is a subsidiary of Coweta-Fayette, an electric membership corporation. Before, it was known as Coweta-Fayette EMC Natural Gas (CFEMC Natural Gas). True Natural Gas's relationship with its parent company is unique because profits from natural gas services go to the EMC. This, in turn, keeps electric costs low.

There's also a message center on the right side where you'll see messages (if there are any). This section provides details like:

  • Account Information
  • Bill Summary
  • Service Location
  • Energy Cost
  • Billing Location
  • Rate Plan Information (when your current fixed rate contract will expire)
  • Other additional information

Middle Portion: The Meat of the Bill

This section contains an explanation of how your bill came to be. It includes a breakdown of charges, including taxes and any other charges that went into the account. It also has a bar graph that shows your consumption over a few months. In this way, you'll immediately get information if your consumption went up or down.

One of your gas charges will say AGL. What is AGL? And why do you have to pay for it?

AGL stands for Atlanta Gas Light, and it's the company that delivers the gas on behalf of True Natural Gas and other marketers. The AGL Base Charge is the regulated charge from the utility. This charge covers providing the gas to your home or business, maintenance, and meter reading. This charge is 100% pass through and is the same no matter which provider you choose.

The Bottom Portion: Calculation and AGL

You'll see two things on the bottom part: the calculation of your gas charges and AGL information. We are transparent on how we compute your gas bill.
